Supplies:

  • Tea Towel (21 x 42 inches)

  • 2 Fat Quarters in contrasting cotton quilt fabric

  • Thread

  • Sewing Machine

  • Embroidery Thread

  • Cotton Quilt Batting

  • Scissors

  • Iron & Ironing Board

  • 8.5 x 11 inch Piece of Printer Paper

Instructions:

Step 1: Using the Omnigrid ruler, mat, and rotary cutter, cut the tea towel in half lengthwise.

Step 2: Fold and press the tea towel into thirds, leaving 1” on each side of the middle panel. The final width should be 9”. Pin and sew along the raw edge.

Step 3: Create a pattern for the top of the tea towel using the 8.5 x 11 inch piece of paper. Fold each corner to the center to form a point, then cut along each fold with paper scissors.

Step 4: Using your pattern, cut (1) piece from each fat quarter and from the cotton batting. Finger press along the long edge by ¼”.

Step 5: Place the cotton batting on the bottom, stacking the cotton fabric pieces on top, right sides together. Trim the cotton batting by ¼” along the long edge. Sew all three layers together, leaving the long edge open. Trim the corners and turn right sides out.

Step 6: Using embroidery floss and the easy threading needle, sew a back-stitch along the sewn edge. Ensure the stitches are long enough to accommodate the crochet hook.

Step 7: Single crochet into each embroidery stitch.

Step 8: Triple crochet two times into each single crochet. Weave in the ends.

Step 9: Insert the raw edge of the tea towel into the open end of the cotton top and edge-stitch to close.

Step 10: Using the VARIO Creative® Tool and matching color snaps, attach snaps at the top corner of the tea towel and the corresponding location on the base of the tea towel.
